It will do much better when companies treat blogging as a skill like cold-calling, or filing, or writing great copy. 

I&#039;ve spent the last year speaking to several large companies, and every single one of them has a &quot;blogging initiative.&quot;  They are spending lots of time studying it, but don&#039;t seem to have the confidence to just jump in.</description>

You make a great point about the fact that innovative business people are blogging. I can&#039;t agree more.

I think you will find that among the early adapters are many folks who already spend tons on advertising and understand the value of marketing. For example Mortgage Brokers are jumping on the blogwagon along with huge portions of the Real Estate industry.

And in defense of IBM they do have quite a bit of internal blogging going on. The people I&#039;ve talked to over at Big Blue are generally very positive towards blogging.

But you are right. How much more could they benefit from some public external blogs? I bet a lot.</description>
