Michele,

This is a great write up because, until this chapter in Hilton's life, Paris has always maintained a consistent brand, which was to be bold. In fact, her early arrival to serve the sentence reinforced it it. She got off track in the middle. And now, well, it's anyone's guess whether she will return to being bold or try, um, reformed? on for size. One thing is certain. I don't think she'll ever be able to truly have the brand she once had. Good, bad, or indifferent.

All my best,
Rich

I have to agree. The brands you mentioned, all across the board, don't necessarily stand for much. But fans still want to watch them succeed or watch them fail. They're still in their corner. With Britney or Lindsay, it's a disaster. It will be interesting to see Britney try to make a comeback, how it will be received. Ah, the life of celebrities, ay?

Yeah, it has worked where others have failed a la Britney and Lindsay. At the same time, was it worth it? Clearly controversy works to garner readers, viewers and fans. But then again consider Ann Coulter, Rush and those folks. The same strategy fuels their success, but does anyone really respect these people? Given what all these brands stand for, I'm not sure it's worth it.
